1. Hide WhatsApp Photos or Videos in Gallery
WhatsApp always show all your downloaded photos and videos in your Gallery app and anyone can view them. Unfortunately, if you’ve some private photos, you may run into a trouble when a wrong person will sees them. So, here’s the simple trick to hide WhatsApp photos or videos in your Gallery app.
Here are the exact steps.
- First, download ES File Explorer from the Play Store (link below).
- Navigate to WhatsApp > Media folder.
- Now, create a file named “.nomedia” inside Media folder. To do this on ES File Explorer, tap on the 3 dots at the top-right corner, then select New, and then tap on File.
- Rename the file to .nomedia and tap OK.
After that, open your phone’s Gallery app and you’ll see that WhatsApp Images or WhatsApp Videos folders has disappeared. If you wish to view them in your Gallery app, then delete the “.nomedia” file.
2. Run 2 WhatsApp Accounts on Same Android Device
If you run a dual SIM Android device, you might probably want to enjoy 2 separate WhatsApp accounts for your 2 different mobile numbers.
So, here I’ll explain the simple trick to run 2 WhatsApp accounts on your Android device without rooting it—using GBWhatsApp. Just follow the steps below.
- Download and install the latest version of GBWhatsApp (link below).
- Open GBWhatsApp when installation process finishes and enter your mobile number.
- After successfully verification, you can now use 2 WhatsApp accounts on your Android device—1 from the official application and the other account from GBWhatsApp. Enjoy!
3. Recover Deleted Messages
WhatsApp doesn’t save your chat histories on its servers, so it can’t help you recover deleted messages. However, if you’ve deleted messages on WhatsApp, still there is a chance to get them back. By default, WhatsApp backs up your entire messages every night at 2am and stores them on your phone’s internal storage or in your SD card (if you’ve inserted).
So, to restore them, you’ll need to uninstall WhatsApp, and then reinstall it again. During the installation process, you’ll be prompted to restore your message history. Simply tap Restore and you shall get back your deleted WhatsApp messages once the restore process is completed.
4. Save Someone’s Picture or Video Status
Recently WhatsApp added a new Status feature that allows users to post pictures or short videos as their status update. People now leverage on this new feature to post adverts and funny pictures or videos that everyone wishes to have. So, here, I’ll show you a simple way to save WhatsApp status and access it any time you want, just follow the steps below to learn how.
- First, you’ll need an advanced file manager like ES File Explorer, and enable show hidden files.
To do this on ES File Explorer, open the side menu by sliding in from the left outside edge and scroll down until you see Show hidden files and then turn it on.
- After that, navigate to WhatsApp > Media folder.
- Here, open the .Statuses folder, and you’ll see all the status pictures and videos used by your contacts.
- Choose the one you want to save, then copy and paste it in a location of your choice.
If you don’t want to do this manually, then download a third-party app like Story Saver from the Play Store, it’ll allow you to save WhatsApp Status pictures and videos with just a few taps.
5. Send Your Message in Bold, Italic or Strikethrough
After many years of plain text, WhatsApp has finally added a tex-formatting feature that allows users to send their message in bold, italic, strikethrough and FixedSys. These text-formatting will let you highlight certain words inside your message and help you to deliver your message better.
- For bolded text, add an asterisk (*) before and after the text. For example: *This text is bolded.*
- For italicized text, add an underscore (_) before and after the text. For example: _This text is italicized._
- For strikethrough text, add a tilde (~) before and after the text. For example: ~This text is struck through.~
- For FixedSys font, add 3 backquotes (```) before and after the text. For example, ```This text is changed to the FixedSys font.```
6. Share Android Apps (Apk) Through WhatsApp
WhatsApp announced some features which allows users to send documents, but any other files like Apk, Zip, etc they aren’t supported. So, here, I’ll show you a simple trick which you can use it to send Apk files through WhatsApp, without any third-party application.
Here are the exact steps.
- Locate the Apk file you want to send using an advanced file manager like ES File Explorer.
- When you located the file, long-press on it and tap Rename option.
- Change the extension of the file from apk to doc and tap OK button
- Long-press the renamed file and navigate to share options, then select WhatsApp.
- When WhatsApp opens, choose your friends or any of your groups which you want to send and the file should be sent.
7. Disable Media Auto-Download to Save Data
You can save lots of data by disabling Media-auto download on WhatsApp. To this, follow the simple steps below.
- Open WhatsApp and tap on the 3 dots at the top-right corner, and then tap on Settings.
- Now, tap on Data and storage usage.
- Under “Media-auto download“ section, tap on When using mobile data, and uncheck everything.
8. Read WhatsApp Message Without Sender Knowing
WhatsApp always show the blue check marks which helps senders to know the recipient has the message. Unfortunately, sometimes when you read the message and you don’t reply immediately, then the sender may feel like you have ignored them.
So, here, I’ll show you how to read WhatsApp message without sender knowing. Just follow the simple steps below.
- Open WhatsApp and tap on the 3 dots at the top-right corner, and then tap on Settings.
- Now, navigate to Account > Privacy.
- In the Privacy, look for Read receipts option. By default, you’ll see a check mark next to it, just uncheck it and you’re done.
Disabling Read receipts, you won’t be able to see when they’ve read your messages as well.
9. Lock Your Whatsapp With a PIN
Though WhatsApp itself doesn’t offer lock feature, but you can lock it using a third-party application. And you can try to prevent unauthorized access to your WhatsApp chats.
There are many third-party lock apps available on Google Play that allows you to lock your WhatsApp with a PIN, password or pattern. You can try WhatsApp Lock app. It lets you protect most popular messaging applications including WhatsApp with a PIN.
10. Logout WhatsApp
WhatsApp doesn’t have a “Log Out” button for the mobile app. However, you can get the same results by clearing the app’s data. To do this, follow the steps below.
- Open your Android’s Settings app.
- Tap on Apps or Applications.
- Find WhatsApp, and then tap on Storage.
If you don’t see a “Storage” option, skip to the next step. - Tap on Clear data, and then tap OK button when prompted.
- After that, open WhatsApp app again. You’ll see the login screen, indicating that you’ve been logged out.
